“World Premiere”

Book, Music and Lyrics by Colin Healy

Directed by Sydnie Grosberg Ronga

Madame! logoPlaywright Colin Healy brings to life the story of Eliza Haycraft in an exciting new musical set in 1870 St. Louis. After “falling prey to the charms of an itinerant salesman” young Eliza Haycraft is shunned by family and banished from her community. Illiterate and lacking any skills, she single-handedly paddled a canoe down the Missouri River to St. Louis where she chose one of the only options open to women like her – prostitution. Within a decade, Eliza became the most – successful Madam in the city and one of the richest women in the territory. Madam! explores the issues of misogyny, hypocrisy and class in mid-19th century America.

This production will feature the BCT Young Company in supporting roles.
